The classic Pop-o-matic bubble game can be a bit tedious when you are trying to get a piece on to the board by popping a 6, especially when the 6 is being a little too elusive. We've found that if you can get a new piece out with either a 1 or 6, and let the 1 re-roll just like the 6 then the game plays about one billion times faster. Even your average 3 year old would rather play 4 games of Trouble in 30 minutes (i.e. he gets to play every color once) than just a single game that the regular rules can sometimes inflict upon us in that same half hour. Plus getting bonked back to your start isn't such a big deal when you can get out with 1:3 odds rather than 1:6, so we're much more willing to get more pieces out on the board (often using the 1 that way rather than to just move a meager 1 space) which makes for even more bonking fun.
