Hisss! is a fun, color based kids card game (the cards are actually cardboard, so its durable though a tad hard to shuffle). However, the regular game does tend to play itself. Thus, we play with the following rules to help introduce some decision making.
1. Rather than fan out the cards, we stack them into a deck.
2. At the start of every turn, draw until you are holding 3 cards in your hand.
3. Play 1-3 cards.
4. Remember (from the regular rules) that you do not have to always attach matching snake parts. You can start a new snake with just 1 piece and then use that piece later on. Though any player can attach any loose piece on their turn.
We've found that we now have to make decisions like, "Should I play all 3 cards to cycle more potential through my hand more quickly, or should I hold onto heads and tails to try to steal big snakes.
